Various forms of compulsory care

There may be reason in certain cases to deprive someone of her/his liberty, even though he or she has not committed any crime. Compulsory care aims to provide protection both for the individual and for others in society.

We describe here some of the most common forms of compulsory care:

  • care of young people,
  • care of substance abusers and
  • compulsory mental care.
